WORKSHOPS
STEM Fun for Everyone
ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME
RoboKai hosts workshops for both members and non-members on a range of STEM topics, from the basics of engineering and coding to more advanced principles of robotics such as drivetrain design and CAD modeling. Upcoming workshops are listed below.

Upcoming Workshops
Workshops are typically 1-2 hours long, organized by age, and held on Saturday mornings. They are focused on specific activities.
Upcoming
Coding (Ages 6-12)
Junior Maker Lab:
Robot Go Caroling!
Learn to code a robot that will play holiday music and put on a light display! Great for students new to programming their robots. No coding or other robotics experience necessary.
Saturday, December 6, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $25/$35 (Members/Non-Members)
Coding (Ages 8-16)
Junior Maker Lab:
Holiday Beats Workshop with Python
In this 90-minute session, you'll use Earsketch to design your own holiday tune. Discover how Earsketch uses the Python language to turn code into music, and pick up some introductory coding skills while creating your own festive beat.
No Python experience necessary, but students should have some coding experience (e.g. Scratch, Hour of Code, etc.).
Saturday, December 13, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $25/$35 (Members/Non-Members)
Winter Break Boot Camps
Boot camps are typically 3+ hours, organized by age, and held on days when schools are closed. They involve a deeper dive into subject matter.
3D Printing (Ages 9-12)
Full-Day Blaze Boot Camp:
Tinkercad Level Up
This all-day bootcamp is the perfect "get up to speed" boot camp for 3D design in Tinkercad. Whether you are a brand new designer or just want to master the complete toolkit, this class will cover a little of everything. We will start with the basics of placing and grouping shapes, then dive into the powerful tools for precision and speed. You'll learn how to perfectly align components, duplicate parts to build complex patterns fast, cut clean holes, and even import 2D images to create incredible custom designs.
Monday, December 22, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $125/$175 (Members/Non-Members)
Coding (Ages 9-12)
Half-Day Blaze Boot Camp:
AI Explorers
What is AI and how does it learn? In this fun bootcamp you become the AI trainer! You'll use hands-on tools like Google's Teachable Machine to teach a computer to recognize your poses, pictures, and sounds. Then, we’ll use our new AI models to build simple games and interactive projects in Scratch. We'll also explore the creative side of AI by making amazing digital art.
Monday, December 29, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $75/$100 (Members/Non-Members)
Coding (Ages 13-18)
Full-Day Forge Boot Camp:
AI Navigators
In this 90-minute session, you'll use Earsketch to design your own holiday tune. Discover how Earsketch uses the Python language to turn code into music, and pick up some introductory coding skills while creating your own festive beat.
No Python experience necessary, but students should have some coding experience (e.g. Scratch, Hour of Code, etc.).
Tuesday, December 30, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $125/$175 (Members/Non-Members)
Coding (Ages 9-12)
Full-Day Blaze Boot Camp:
Video Game Making w/ PyGame
In this all-day boot camp, we will build a complete 2D video game from the ground up using Python and PyGame. This project-based class is a great way to learn, as we'll cover every essential step together. Students will learn to set up a game world, program a player you can control with the keyboard, add "coins" or "enemies," and make them interact with collision detection. Students will leave with a finished game they programmed themselves and the skills to keep building on it. This class will be all typed Python code, students do not need Python experience but should have some coding experience such as Scratch, MakeCode, Hour of Code etc.
Tuesday, December 23, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $125/$175 (Members/Non-Members)
3D Printing (Ages 6-8)
Half-Day Ignite Boot Camp:
Tinkercad Basics
This class is a fun and easy introduction to the world of 3D design. Using Tinkercad, students will learn the basics of digital building. We’ll practice placing shapes, changing their size and color, and grouping them together to build a unique character or object. We'll also explore the "Scribble" and "Sketch" tools to turn 2D drawings into 3D parts. All participants will get one 3D design printed from this bootcamp. Club members can use their points to order more for printing!
Monday, December 29, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $75/$100 (Members/Non-Members)
